Taking inspiration from the stunningly colorful Birds of Paradise of Australia and New Guinea, I produced this series of paintings.  The images are an attempt to represent what has taken nature millions of years to create.

The male Birds of Paradise have developed elaborate plumage, dances and mating calls in an attempt to attract females. Because they reside in remote parts of tropical jungles, they don’t have predators and food is abundant. This affords them the ability to perform their elaborate, colorful displays without fear of being hunted.

My work is infused with lots of color and the Birds of Paradise are a perfect match for what feeds my creativity. I hope that you enjoy these images. And that you look them up online. www.birdsofparadiseproject.org. They are magnificent!
